Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States of America and home to some of the best sources of quality venues, productions, and entertainment. D.C. is home to some of the world's best museums and tourist attraction. Some of these include the White House, The Capital Building, the National Air and Space Museum, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and National World War II Memorial, amongst many worthy others. As the nation's capital, D.C. serves as the national center for many things, which also includes theater and the arts. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (or Kennedy Center for short) is the largest and most famous place for theater and arts in all of D.C. Other great venues for theater shows and productions include: National Theatre, Warner Theatre, Ford Theatre (Site of President Abraham Lincoln's Assassination) and DAR Constitution Hall. Washington D.C. is one of only 12 cities to have a professional sports franchise in each of the 4 major sports leagues. The Verizon Center is the home of the Wizards (NBA) and the Capitals (NHL), as well the prestigious collegiate basketball program at Georgetown University. The Nationals (MLB) recently made their way down from Montreal into their new ballpark that opened back in 2008, Nationals Park. Washington is also home to one of the best franchises in NFL history, the Redskins. They have won 3 Super Bowls and play their games in FedEx Field located in Landover, Maryland. Like many other major cities across the country, Washington has many great venues to catch quality music. Some venues like Bohemian Caverns and Lincoln Theatre are always in the use of famous stars like Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
